Ms. Misty and Ms Amelia assist children in getting carrots out of the ground. We have learned quite a bit about clay soil. The gardens at Sacred Meadow are a learning process and we will prepare them well with compost this fall to help with softening up things. Our carrots had to be dug up with a shovel to get them out. The kids loved getting dirty ~ as always.
Here the children are doing more scrubbing. Ellie, Lucas, Sammy, and Evangeline are working together. Fresh carrots pulled straight from the garden are amazingly carroty. They smell and taste so different from the store bought carrots.

Here is some of the beautiful vegetables we grew this year in our first garden. We can't take credit for the guards, but what's missing is our amazing strawberry crop. I am amazed at those strawberries! They're producing again, and it's the middle of September. The children love finding those red gems. We should be able to pick more next week.
